  • VR6 help

    I am looking at buying a 94 VR6.

I drove it and it seems to be in decent condition for age and price, however
there are a couple of things here and there and i was wondering if any one could tell me whether its worth the bother.

Needs a new starter motor, indicator cover, gear knob, handbrake boot.
and has the usual cosmetic wear and tear.

Is it worth it, and will it cost a mint to fix?

Gear knob and boot is usual wear and tear.
Starter motor, I'm sure you can get a kit online to overhaul it.
    Wont be much mate

you will be able to get all replacement parts from www.germanautoparts.com

try matt, Golf Loon on this forum and see what he has though.

Buy it,there aren't many of them around and give her some love

depends what they are asking for it?

I would say go see Bug_racer. He built my VR6 and Ive driven it to 5 different states and raced in 2. In 2 weeks time I will race it at drag combat at wsid. The only fault has been the fuel pump so far. Not bad for a 15 year old car and almost 30k km since the rebuild. Here it is at Portland: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2XsIGvNBKU

                  Matt,

I dont mean to be a pain in the arse about this, and If you have found one you like, stick to it. But I am selling my VR in the next few weeks. There is nothing wrong with it except the Air con needs a new compressor and needs new tyres, both of which I will be replacing myself before the sale. Asking about 7500....Just food for thought anyway U can PM me if you want more info.

Also, As for tyres, I had a set of Bridgestone Potenza's on there, Everytime they got hot, they started to loose grip and the car would drift around like buggery, I took them off, put some Maragoni Zeta Linea's on, they were crap also, but Yoki S Drives, I cant fault them, Good with grip in the dry, amazing in the wet....Just my two cents anyway

Your VR sounds like a good deal though i live in NSW, so it will be a bit more effort than this VR.
                    sorry

No worries Matt, I can understand that, Good luck with the hunt....Just becarefull though, you need to check window regs, aircon and a few little things like that, that can cause potentially huge dollars to fix.
