i was thinking of gettin hid lights for my vr6 or am i just better off getin jus the phillips globes? cheers

It's not street legal to retrofit HID's. You'd be better off upgrading the lights to a projector system + decent globes. Thats the way I went. 3x the light out put easily.

Stick with globes, HID's are horrible when not fitted to proper lights, will blind other drivers on the road and therefore illegal

Hardly anything we do is street legal.

Some of the new HID kits come with covers so that they dont shoot straight out. They cant be worse than Euro Accord's, 300c's and 4wd's that for sure.

depends what grade hid if you go 6000k its good its not to blue but that nice white/ blue l.e.d look but if you get anything above like 8000 to 1000 you can see straight away its illegal and doesn't look good you would be pulled over straight away..

A lot of the time the output isnt that great anyway, it may look brighter, but the actual output to the road sucks.
Projector headlights and some really decent Philips bulbs will poo all over a HID into reflective lens setup

Search vortex, plenty of pics on there, wont give you the best idea though, they look like very bright blue or white light beams coming from the headlights
