  • rear disk pad piston pushing tool?

    hi all

just spent some time out with the golfloon today replacing the vr6 alternator
he is a man of considerable talent and knowledge!

    but...

he has misplaced his tool that pushes in the piston in the rear brake whilst it rotates it

i need such a tool to replace the pads on the rear of my car

the 5upercheap version was 5upercheap and crap.
auto one sells one for $50

the vw tool actually butts up against the other side of the caliper and squeezes the piston back in as it rotates it
instead of just relying on the user pushing a ratcheted tool as it is turned

anyone have one? know where i can use one?
    i have the pads
    i have the will
    but no tool

    gman.

I have one, 2 pips on the sides. I have used a pair of pointy pliers in an emergency with success.

If you can wait until the weekend and do the job on Saturday I'll bring it over with me. Evorobin and I fly in before dinnertime on Saturday.

      hey gavin
      sadly can't make the nationals
though would be nice to see everyone and their rides

[i'm sure i would be inspired to do lots of work on my golf!]

does your tool press against the caliper to push the piston in
or does it rely on your pushing it in whilst you rotate it?

golfloon and i couldn't use that silly 5upercheap tool as although it rotated it didn't push in easily...

Yeah, mine is the real thing. I bought it for doing dubs.

Can still bring it over if you want. I get to Sydney on Saturday morning and will be over at Matt's sometime Saturday. You can always send it back to me, as I don't think I'll be needing it in the next week.

Do you mean Auto One (i.e. the parts place)?
Any better than the SuperCheap one?
