  • mk3 weight stripping

    hey all,

    considering converting the mk3 cl into a bit of a track toy, I do not however want to loose my aircon. what can I rip out of it apart from the usual seats, carpets, trim etc etc.. rear wiper mech went tonight as well as spare and tools. seats need to stay for the moment.

      I was about to say the same thing, failing that, you can remove all that rear trim inc. seats etc and save around 80kg. Oh and get a single sports seat that should help!

          Sound proofing. If your going caged then the door side intrusion bars.

          The sand bags in the flooring.

            stripping it out would just ruin the car in my opinion. It still wont be that quick.

            Not that you cant track a CL and have fun. Just no point stripping it. They never go back together the same.

              They weigh 1.5kg if that, not worth the effort imo...

                MX5's are okay with the top up. More reliable than watercooled VAG too.

                  Hey IH8, I am on a few mx5 forums, I almost bought Erics (kitkat on mx5cartalk) one but decided against it at the last moment.

                  I think ill just leave it as be then guys, too much stuffing around. Would be fun but thats what a mk1 would be good for..
