US Spec. GTI

Hi guys, my friend in Canada looked into a 1998 GTI Mk3... over the internet, just curious are the 98's using the 16V??at wot year they change the specs??

in canada the mk gti was available in a vr6 - not sure if there was a 16v option?

I dont think the US ever got the 16v ABF engine.

They had CISE 16v KR and PL and 9A motors, but not ABF

The VR6 was badged as a GTI model in the states. No ABFs, but they do have the ABA 8v, which is a crossflow.
