Oil: unknown (make a suggestion, im on a students wages...)
Brakes:Unknown, but no dust, so i assume some type of aftermarket pad. Stops Very well
Coolent: Untill the heater core gets replaced, its staying straight water.
I use Shell Helix Plus for the Engine Oil, around $28. I used to be able to buy it from Big W but they appear to only sell Shell Helix Plus Eco 10 now, but K-Mart have picked it up again which is better for me as it's closer

If you intend on running straight water, I'd be replacing the core quickly, otherwise you'll be replacing more than the core later...

You can't mix the G11 and G12 together, but apparently you can mix the new stuff with either G11 or 12...

The knob (yes, knob - only good name for him) who owned my vr6 before me ran distilled water only.

In terms of cooling, it didnt seem so bad. Temp gauge smack in the middle. I've noticed with G12 its lower.

As far as oil temps go though. 105c after 20mins on the fwy with the water, 92c on g12.
The oil however is different since it got changed when the coolant did. This may bear weight on the result.
Agip 10w60 when the water was in. Fuchs 10w30 with g12.

Got charged $70 freaking bux by the mechanic for the fuchs, found it at supercheap on the weekend for $40!!!!!!

          I just got the Auto One Easter catalogue http://www.autoone.com.au/latestcata...catalogues.asp and They're selling 5L Shell Helix Plus 15W-50 SL/CF for $25.95 and 5L Eco 10 10W-30 SJ/CF for $29.95

Oil: Motul 4100 10/40 Turbolight (It says turbo so is fully sik) Nah, anything thinner will make it burn oil.
            Oil Filter: Mahle or Mann
Plugs: NGK BKR5EKU (Stock is best)
Brakes: Front: Hawk HP + Rear Hawk HPS (On brembo rotors - stops good)
            Coolant: G12
