What do you think of this? (Inspecting a VR6)

Hey guys, I'm new around here and thought i'd ask the experts about a second hand VR6 i'm going to look at tomorrow.

I'm 18 and this will be my first car incase that influences your opinions.

That's the link (hopefully allowed) to the car i'm going to look at. In comparison to others ive seen in the market it seems very fairly priced and has one of the lowest KM's i've seen.

What sort of things can i look for when inspecting it. I'm going to take it to a mechanics if i get serious on the sale, but upon first inspection is there anything i should ask/check.

He said he bought it without a service book off the previous owner. But i wonder if he'd know about replacing timing chains and heatercores etc.

Interesting... they aren't the VR6 sports seats.
Look like the leathers from one of the 2 litre Mk3 Golfs.

Doesn't say anything about service history or logbooks, so you'd need to ask.

Yeah sorry i was unclear in the first post, i have asked and he says he doesnt have them as he bought it second hand without the books.

Is this a major worry or could a full checkover put my mind at ease about the condition of the engine?

never buy the first car you look at. especially when you're young and in experienced at negotiating.

go have a look at a couple (yes, tyre kick) and get a feel for the cars, then you'll be able to compare them etc etc etc.

Good luck. Oh, and esp with euro cars, try and get something with a service history! pretty important..
