  • Hughesy's MK3

    Hey there!

Like the forums! Recently my daily navara ute packed it in, so i had to find another daily driver to get me around. Had a few ideas, really wanted to go euro as i'm really enjoying that scene/style at the moment and they're usually pretty comfy and generally nice cars to cruise around in.

Ended up deciding on a MKIII golf, wasnt to expensive and had the base i needed to work with. Car will be remaining standard as far as motor and exhausts is concerned, this is pure asthetics! Currently deciding on wheels, choices include sportmax, rota copy's and widened steelies. Sizing that i'm chasing will be around 15x7 0 offset, but so far i'm having trouble finding out whether 5x114.3 steelies can be redrilled as 4x100??

Also getting kitted with roof racks and basket, various stickers and getting debadged. New stereo and cup holders also 100% neccessary.

    Feel free to add thoughts!

You can get Toyota Echo steelies for fit, as they are 4x100 and clear standard brakes. Along with getting them widened, you will need the centrebores machined to 57.1. They often have sets of Toyota steelies on Ebay, and sportmaxxe's are around 800 a set.

Not worth the trouble as you can easily find 4x100 steelies around for quite cheap!

15x7 ET0 is a pretty bad setup on a Mk3, as they'll definitely sit out of the guards and with very limited tyre stretch (unless you get 165s or something narrower) you'll be destroying your tyres in no time.

If you're gonna widen steelies, just go for 8" wide. ET13 will have it sitting like a 15x7 ET0, but you'll be able to stretch 195s over it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, good point about the 8's, much easier to find tyres for. Main reason for looking at 7's was I know someone who has steelies already widened for the that size starting at et0 and going lower from there, but in the wrong stud pattern. But the sounds of it it'll be better to find the right stud pattern and just pay to get them widened!

Otherwise I'll go sportmaxx I think, keep any info coming! Much appreciated!

Both are around the same price actually. Have you checked out the Axis OG wheels that dropped into JDMyard not long ago? http://forum.jdmstyletuning.com/showthread.php?t=20605

All of them look sick I reckon! Great offsets for our Golfs too.

Finally some progress, let me know what you think. Still need to get wheels and roof basket.

I've pretty much decided on the diamond racing steel rims from the US though.

I like where this is going.

IMO, Axis OG San would look amazing! Haven't seen too many MK3's on 'Meshies' either.

Probably definetly going the meshies. 15x8 +25, will put a 10mm slip on spacer on the rears to bring it out a little further.

What roof racks are those btw and where did u get them? They look similar to thule but i wasnt aware that they made anything else except the black square bar for the mk3.
