  • strange suspension problem

    Hey Guys,

I have a bit of a strange situation... the car seems to sit a little lower on one side (about 10mm if your lucky at the front) but I seem to notice it more then others.

I went to raise it a little this arvo and for some strange reason it sits at the same hight no matter how far up or down you have the coilover ?.

I wound it down the 10mm put the wheel back on lowered it, and it was still measuring the same height. so I did this 3 times, each time lowering it a little bit more before I gave up and wound it right down to the the bottom, put the wheel on and it still sits at the same height.

So I wound it back up to where it was originally and you guessed it, same height !.

Got me stumped how its doing this ?.

    Anyone got any ideas ?

You are quite a big guy right?
Maybe you should raise the drivers side a bit more than the passenger side to compensate.

i dont have an answer for you, but my car does the same. on stock springs and stuff, the driver side sat 10mm lower and with coilovers at same height all around the driver side was still 10mm lower. so i just wound the driver side ones up 10mm and dont think about it much anymore

I was thinking the same thing, the drivers side is the one that sits just that tad lower.

But even with the the drivers side at full hight as high as you can go, it sits at the same hight as it does when its wound about half way up.

I cant get my head around why it stays at the same hight when you adjust the coilover at least 50mm.

I could bring the passenger side down to match driver, but the drivers side scrubs at 3 quater lock, I would rather not have the passenger side do that

Silly question maybe. but did u take it for a quick drive after adjusting it? it does take a lil bit to settle properly after having the car off the ground

And make sure the ground you use is completely flat. Any undulations can cause different loads on each wheel.

Well no not really, I only went down my street then back (50 meters at a guess).

But I had the the drivers side adjusted a complete 50mm higher then the passenger, but yet it was still that 10mm lower.

yeah I was doing it in the garage, and its pretty dam level.

I've had this problem eat at the back of my head ever since I lowered my car (because only then did I notice a difference haha). It shizz's me to tears and I can't do anything about it.

Has it punched through the strut mount??
Is one strut top sitting heaps higher than the other.

No both mounts sit at the same hight.
