just had battery replaced by marshall batteries told alternator is not putting out enough voltage , went to auto electrican he told me up to $3OO depending on whats wrong with it and if he can get parts for it if he can't $600 for new alternator neither of witch i can afford

Shop around or get secondhand, most wreckers will give you some warranty.

the problem with second alternators is when i bought mine it took only two months for it to give up again. considering it is not quick job to pull an alternator everytime (vr6) i believe just reco it once and for all and you get a full years warranty (it will last 6 years +) so unless you like pulling your front end off and buying alternators like thrusday night shopping go for it.

i paid $315 for mine reco'd and it gives me the ease of knowing it wont cark it in 2 months time.

Wheres a good place to get a Alternator reco'ed?

Otherwise.. does anyone have a link to guide on how to change an alternator? I might get a used one from Good Loon
