i have this very annoying rattle in the rear end of my vr6. ive had the mechanic go over the exhaust mounts and all and he couldnt find it. he suggested it might be the brake pads rattling in the carriers but at the last service he took one of the brakes apart and tightened everything possible but its still there... anyone else have this issue?

is the hub nut at the back torqued up properly? When they're too loose, the wheel bearings don't sit properly and the rotor (and subsequently wheel, because it's bolted to it) can shake sideways. I had this problem a while ago but I'm not sure whether it was actually rattle...
You might have to explain it a bit more. When does the rattle come on? What sort of rattle is it (ie does it sound like...metallic, etc)? Where do you think it's coming from?Mrk Detailing, premium automotive detailing. Paint correction/protection specialist. PM me

its just a constant rattle. if i was to describe the sound, i would say it sounds like a bracket has come loose and is rattling on the exhaust pipe or something like that, but it stops as soon as you put your foot on the brakes..
i read on here a while ago about someone looking for clips or something to secure their brake pads in the carriers but im pretty sure it was in relation to a mk1. im wondering if it is a similiar problem???
here it is...
