    ok
i came up today to malany (sunshine coast) about 200kms from home
and as i was driving into the car park at a local shop the car started to "surge" like it had a miss but yer sort of felt like a fuel surge and let off some huge backfires and big flames (it normally backfires and flames but these where slightly large and louder than ussually)

then i parked the car and cam back to it about and hour later & tryed to start it but it just cranks over ( at the very first crank it atemts to fire but then just cranks)
ive changed ecu's over thinking that might be the problem but no differance

so i checked to hear if the fuel pump was working when the ignition was on and i couldnt hear anything

so im qute shore this will be my problem?

so i got the car towed to my gf's house just up the road (racq quoted me $780 to tow it back to the goldcoast
and tomorow she will be driving me back down the coast so i can get my other fuel pump

any other opinions on the problem would be great, figured there might be a more comen problem and dont want to do the journey twice to get parts

    thanks guys.

Pumps dont just die in my experience. Far more likely to be a relay.

The pump doesn't run when the ignition is on only when the engine is turning. It should prime before you start it, flick the key on and off a couple of times. See if you hear it then.

Pull the king lead out of the dissy and make sure you get a good spark off that. Proving the hall sender in the dissy, the ECU and the coil.

What's your engine code. 2E or AGG maybe?

maybe get a can of aero start or somthing and spray it into the intake see if she'll run on that. (If the spark is all good)

AAA in yours bud, VR6 joy, on off bang sound like you are getting spark on and off my friend. You can scan that , go back to basics mate, fuel , air and spark at the right time its a goer. If its banging flame then it must be getting fuel mate. Might be G28 having a flip ( Crank sensor)
          Good luck mate
I got one if you need
          cheers

ignition coil they are $90 trade its def a spark issue. I Have the same engine aaa distrubutor type has been a problem for me before you crank and crank and nothing or it starts and then dies.

keep in mind if you keep cranking it you can damage the starter and drain the battery

Coil packs will cost more than that william.
I`d suspect crank angle sensor first, pretty common on VR6s.

Haha it's always up and down mate. I hate my car tonight because the stuff I've been working on is fiddly as shyte, and it's STILL not working properly. I called it quits because I won't wake up for work otherwise!

                          Good luck!
