Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Anyones ex VR6 here??

One of my customers bought a reposessed dark green VR6 from a Canberra auction a couple of months ago. Its got front brake ducts, pod air filter and a short stubbie aerial. I havent taken any pics of it, apart from those mods its just a standard lowered VR6 on standard wheels. I am presently up to my arms in it....

It also had a cracked thermostat housing, blown headgasket and broken and worn out timing chain guides so the customer is being hit with a large bill. Fortunately the clutch wasnt worn out!
Need to finish this one up as I have 3 more VWs waiting to have engine removals and rebuilds before I go to the DOVW... Grrr

Think there was some interest here but the auction house wanted crazy money to sell prior...

6500 if I remember correctly, and that was without rego, auction fee's etc. I'm also pretty sure they were basing the price on what I paid for mine a year ago, but mine ran and had less than a 1/4 of the k's

Went for $3000-$4000 to my customer, mind you, its gonna cost him a lot to get back to being decent, forgot to mention the damn heater core being bypassed..., A job for late summer I guess...
Hopefully get it up and running this morning before a yukky Ford Econovan comes in for a cambelt this arvo... (love a break around here! )
