  • VR6 brake caliper guide pins - hex Size???

    Getting frustrated!

Went to change the pads in the VR6.
Its a late '96 model so has the Teves ATA calipers.

Anyone know the size hex driver (allen key) needed to loosen the guide pins?

Its bigger than a 6mm and smaller than an 8mm (as I found out after putting the wheel back on, heading out to the hardware store and pulling the wheel off again).

Before I try to find a 7mm key, just wondering if it could be an imperial size??

7mm allen key bit would be the go on a 3/8 rachet

I would tip 7mm, I had the same situation in a mk1 srtut tower
most hardware shops did not carry 7mm, i got lucky at a engineers supply shop
      good luck

Hard to find a small set with a 7mm allen key let alone by itself. I had to get a complete set to grab a 7mm of my own
        Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
        Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

get an 8 and file it down to fit.

Or buy a proper 7mm fro snap on or someone
