    Hey guys,

    My old man is thinking of getting new wheels for his MkV. Im hunting for some new shoes for my car.
    I have just started looking at wheel options and these are the favourites:

    RC reps:


    RX reps:


    BUT, I also think the MkV GTI wheels would look sweet. Plus continental rubber sounds good also

    I know there are adapters. H&R/ECS etc etc but wanted to see if there are other methods to obtain 5x112?

    The easiest and best way is to buy wheels that are 5x112 which the MKV GTI wheels are

        The VR is 5x100 at present.
        I want to go 5x112 to suit the MkV GTI wheels.

              i know what you mean, ive had several instances bad instances with wheel bolts and them being not tight (caused by other factors than not doing them up tight) and as soon as i can im gonna run the stock wheel bolts without spacers or anything.

                I wouldn't get them personally, others may have some experience/knowledge on them though.

                  I don't think wobble bolts will allow more than ~1mm of ''wobble'' so to speak...100>112 is way too big for wobble bolts.

                  Mal, Ray was looking at doing a 114.3 conversion because of wheel availability. I think in the end it worked out that changing the hubs was a bit too much effort, so he was left with the option of spacers. However, I don't think it would be impossible for you to change your hubs. I'm not quite sure how it works, but I was thinking maybe you could turn/drill them? Would probs require a lot of research..

                    Our hubs are quite small and I don't think it will accomodate the 5x112 pattern. I'm no machinist so that's only my layman observation. Wobble bolts cannot be used in this circumstance - wobble bolts allow for a max of 2.5mm (correct me if I'm wrong please) difference in PCD. You could redrill the wheel but I'd only do this if there's enough metal and there's a centre-cap cover (like you see on the BBS RS). Best and easiest method is adapters for 5x112 (since most 5x112 wheels have high offsets).

                    The way wobble bolts work is that you have a floating seat (conical/ball). The diameter of the seat is larger than the shaft of the lug, so basically your lug will be connected as normal to your hub (e.g. 4x100) and will seat in properly to your wheel (e.g. 4x98 ). As such, you may need to widen the bolt holes in the wheels to accomodate for this difference.



                    You can buy wobble bolts with the TUV approval rating. I don't have personal experience with them though so can't really say if I'd recommend it or not. I'd give it a try but nothing's close to 5x100 haha.

                      The wobble bolts are recommended by PVW.

                      If the wheels are the right offset you could always get the hub itself filled and redrilled.

                        Yeah I was tihnking a hub change, but I think tha would a) be more expensive than adapters, b) if im gonna get adapters I can use that to help offset and c) complexity of changeover. Thought you may be able to fill the existing hub wiht metal and redrill and tap to 5x112. But WAY WAY WAY to muc h of a hassle/risk/chance to stuff up/compromise integrity...too many unknown factors.

                        My first thoughts on the wobble bolts was it was WAY too much of a change. But I don't actually know.

                          Forget about filling the hub, what about just redrilling the hub and the rotors. You might even be able to get some blank rotors and then get them drilled to 5x112. Check out this thread, a guy did 4x100-->5x100 himself then to use 5x120 adapters. Work out if u have enough space inbetween the current pattern to do 5x100-->5x112.

                              If you've ever had a set of 5x100 rotors in your hands you'll realise that there is absolutely no real way to re-drill a set into anything more than around 5x98 - 5x105, there just is no amount of room. Adapters are just the way to go if you want a 5x112 pattern so badly,
