boot problems

how come when i open my golf vr6, the boot doesnt open aswell. is there a special way of doing this?
it use to open when i opened my car, i just dont know what has gotten into it:S

The boot keyhole is in the permanent lock position. If the keyhole is horizontal, it locks and unlocks when you do the same to the car. If it's vertical, it stays locked until you open it by turning it 45 degrees to the right and pushing the button in with the key in there.

It stumped me for a day or two when I first had my vr6 haha. I got so angry.
