This might sound a bit strange but it is fesable to change the 4x100 pattern to a 5x100 pattern.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

quite easily on a golf 3 but it requires a lot parts. the golf 3 vr6 is 5x100 and a 4x100 golf 3 can be converted.
you can also buy adapters but there's controversy about their legality and considering you can find all the parts to start with...87' MK2 GTI
13' MK7 TDI

As jayjay said, just need to transfer over VR6 parts to your CL/GL. You get bigger brakes too which is a plus.
Matt @ CamdenGTI (Golf Loon) helped transfer over most of the stuff on. Basically you'll need the control arms, swaybar (if you plan on running one), ball joints, steering knuckle, axles and all the brake components from the VR6 for the fronts. For the rears, you only need to change the rotors (if your Mk3 had rear disc brakes - if you have drums, you'll need the whole rear brake setup including handbrake cables and hoses). It's easier to drop the front subframe and swap it for the VR6 subframe.

Another way is to get the ecs 4x100--> 5x100 kit which includes new hubs, wheel bearings and rotors specifically designed to fit on 4x100 hub. Or you could get a machine shop to drill your hubs and rotors and do it that way.
Btw if ur doing drum to disc conversion you'll need to change the rear proportioning valve too.
