Mk3 CL questions

Morning,

I have a couple of questions in regards to Australian delivered Mk3 CL's.

Now obviously they carried over the 1.8 8v from the mk2 with multipoint? carburation, is this the same overseas say europe? If I am looking for aftermarket things like an exhaust, they say 1.8i which confuses me a bit.

Also, do the aussie delivered cars use a 020 box as I have ordered a short shift and weighted shifter kit from missinglinkz in the states which is for an 020.

Does anyone know a local seller of inpro lighting? I don't mind buying overseas (through someone like venom motorsports) but its easier here.

I can answer the last two questions. As long as you specified you wanted the upgrades for the Mk3 when you bought from MissingLinkz then you'll get the right parts. The 1.8 and 2.0 on the Mk3 uses the 020 box.

I've seen some In.pro stuff from EuroCarParts (division of ASV) but they're silly expensive. Their range isn't very extensive either. That said, they have some discontinued stuff on stock cos no one buys from them. I remember seeing Hella Magic taillights there (the colour tinted ones that come in red, blue, green and all-smoked) which fetch big money in the states now. Often times I find it much easier buying from overseas sellers as they seem more interested in selling their products than local importers do. Plus sometimes it works out cheaper, even with shipping factored in. This is just through my experience only.

The 1.8 is single point injection, its highly likely that it is the same as the 2.0 from the cat back. And as ray mentioned yes its a 020 box. Off topic a bit but does venom motorsport ship out to us?

Thanks guys, I thought it was multipoint so thanks for clearing that up.

I only want a nice looking back box, pointless doing any work or full exhaust to this mk3 in the performance department, maybe in a year I will go an ABF swap but thats to be decided later.

Not sure if venom ship here but I have some friends with family in the UK so if worst comes to worst, ill get the items posted there and then to here if it is cost effective enough, atleast I can get everything I am getting sent from the UK sent in 1 box then.

Oh, and since I can not see the for sale section, can anyone tell me if there are any coilovers for sale for a mk3? Also, will VR6 coilovers suit a pov pack golf 3? I am guessing spring rates will be higher to help with the extra weight of the vr?

evorobin on here can get you budget coilovers for your car, or I have some lowered springs to suit, for $160.

VR6 Suspension is not corect for your car.

evorobin on here can get you budget coilovers for your car, or I have some lowered springs to suit, for $160.

Thanks for that, I am after coilovers as springs will not let me go low enough.

I am after some smoked ecode headlights (like on black forest industries website) and some smoked side indicators, smoked front indicators and some VR6 rear lights. I have found that the indicators (both front and side) seem to be crystal clear style and I do not like that style, bit too new school. Please let me know if you can get them?

if you're scanning through the venommotorsport website, check out the package deals.

i was having a browse through there the other day. something like 700 quid and you get coilovers, sway bars and a strut brace... who knows how much shipping would be from the UK but still.

Nice to see another CL brother on here... If you got any questions ect post away as my car has been pretty much all pulled apart and rebuilt (Head, gearbox, re-spray, suspension, brakes etc) Its no power house or Trpohy Winner but a soild unit.

Ive just received a small shipment of inpro side indicators so they will be up on my website in the next couple of days after i get a chance to do all the photography. Are your indicators rectangular or oval? As there are two different types. I only have the rectangular ones to suit mk3.

Ive only got front smoked indicator/reflectors to suit cars with fog lights unfortunately as I ordered the wrong part number! I do have a few clear ones though.

Tim, I will grab the side indicators off you thanks. Mine are squar/rectangle.

If you have clear ones that would be great as I would like to tint them myself to the right shade of gangster.

I am about to bid on some VERY special wheels. They will require a bit of body work but should make even some of the US and EU guys jelous once its done. I have also got some plans for the bumpers and so on.

Quick question, does anyone know what the stock size of the speakers are in a CL 2dr? I do not have any speakers in the rear and dont want to cut into the parcel shelf, what have other people done in this case? Door cards?

I have fitted a set of 6.5" splits into the back of mine, even got the tweeter into the fake tweeter hole! Not sure how different the rear door cards are on a CL to GL though
