  • Vr6 ignition leads

    Hi guys,

was looking to replace the leads on the vr6 and whilst at my local repco got the guy to check the price listing for some top gun ones, turned out that a NSW store had 3 sets at a clearance price so he sent a set down for me $ 169.00, I thought that was quite chep compared to some prices I got.

Just a heads up if anyone is in need of some, to visit your local repco and ask them to check there national stock list.

    Cheers!

why dont you guys just get some decent Beru leads (makers for genuine vw) there much meatier and will last much longer with out paying genuine price. there the leads vw intended for use on the vr6.

HSY in Alexandria is the place to get them from.

Looks like I paid a little more than you boys....

....sourced from Australia, ain't the cheapest but thought was Ok compared to quoted prices...

Thread Might help others out to know where everyone purchased theirs & how much they paid.

Yeah mine are the Beru leads. I got 'em off matt cos he has a set lying around. They aren't much more than $100 from the US or UK either...dunno about here.

They're no performance leads, but they're stock and they work perfect. I don't think there's any need for me beefing up my electrical leads if I'm not running big power or anything.

Well, considering those OEM leads you have are 6mm, and most performance leads being 10mm, and copper not graphite cored, you can see how a better spark would be achieved through them. You can get Formula Power leads for a VR6 for around 125AU posted from Ebay.uk.

I once bought a set of aftermarket leads and sent them back due to the fact they didn't have the little tabs/tongues for the spark lead tool.

Would have been pretty hard to pull them out of those deep recesses.

                +1 for HSY/Beru.

Does HSY allow walk-up over the counter sales? Their website says they are wholesale only.

I've bought off HSY before and I'm just random public, so I assume you could go and talk to them (or at least make an order over the phone to retrieve yourself) and collect what you want.

I got beru ones as well. Think I paid $180. VW parts wanted over $400! They are the OEM VW ones, but come in a plastic bag that says Beru instead of a VW box.
I could have bought others slightly cheaper from the US at the time but I didn't want to wait a week.
