  • All Golf VR6's had ABS?

    Hi all,

Just got a VR6 the other day and had a question regarding ABS.

Did all the VR6's have ABS? If so, I assume I should see the light appear for a short period of time when I start the car? This doesn't appear to be happening.

    Thanks!,
    J.

    Pretty sure they all did.

Abs is one of the things to check when buying the car, many have bad sensors. Get it checked out by a VW mechanic, hopefully it's only the sensor that needs fixing.

In the meantime, take your car to a quiet, open street/carpark and slam on the brakes to see if the abs comes on.

I don't think it was standard back when they were new? Either way I'm sure they all came with the ABS ring on the hub.

        They all have ABS.
I have seen some with the wrong panel cover on them. If you used a GL panel, it would not have an ABS light.
Most VR6 ABS systems dont work 100% anyway.

Yeah my light doesn't come on. I think mine still actually works, but the light doesn't come on or anything. That's one of those ''i'll fix it if i get bored with nothing to do'' sort of problems for me

Had a closer look and that is what has been done. I'd expected the light to be under the speedo with the other warning lights. Looked it up in the manual and realised it wasn't and that a different cover was over it.

Not sure if the ABS works or not yet.

if u have the right light panel for it it will be to the right of ur steering wheel. i believe under ur airbag light, someone correct me if its not the airbag light which is above it.
