  • New exhaust!

    Ta-daaaaaaaaa

It's a Magnaflow 2.25" SS unit I ordered in from the US. Took 2 months to get here by boat!

Got it installed by the good folks at Golfwagen late last week. So far, so good. Although it cabin resonance is a little higher then what i'd fancy. From the outside though, it sounds ****ing sublime!!!! No other way to put it. The burble on overrun is to die for

I'm not 100% on where the tips sit, seems to jut out too far for me. I'm not certain though. Thoughts??

Looks good Matty, im guessing you like the more subtle look, esp. compared with big bore pipes!

Another one in the Magnaflow club

Can't beat the sound of an opened up VR6! Tailpipes do look like they jut out a bit more than they should, and seems to hang a little too.

Nice subtle looking tips on a not-so-subtle coloured VR (but pretty rare). I like it Matty, nice name too

              Hehe magnaflow club ftw!

Matty, I reckon they look like they stick out a bit cos the tips are low. It's the same with mine and Mal's zorsts, quite annoying really, the backbox itself is quite large so the tips sag down a fair bit. It makes up for it in sound though....

looks great dude. Magneflow exhaust on a VR6 sounds awesome.

It probably does stick out a little to far. Bring it back about an inch i reckon. Exhausts tend to grow a little when the car is having a good run i know my remus does grow a couple of cm after a decent run

none the less I can imagine how great you must feel with a sweet exhaust on a VR6...mmm...cant beat that sound on full song

Thanks for all the kind comments & feedback

I've been trying to find pix of the rear ends of vr6's and everyone's tips always seem to be neatly tucked up in the valance, so I'm going to have to get something done about that.

Besides that, the only thing that bothers me is that the system drones quite a bit in the lower rev ranges. It's fine on the freeway but anywhere between 1500-3000rpm is *quite* droney. Not sure what I can do to fix this, any ideas?

I have a 12"/300mm resonator, pipe, backbox and I experience the same drone symptoms. I was told when I went for my rego inspection (got this at the same place that did my exhaust) "there isn't much else we can do". What the leaves you with im not sure...

Matty I don't know how successful you're going to be about getting your pipes to tuck up into the body more, as the resonator itself on the magnaflow is quite large so in order for it to sit properly without hitting the chassis, this is about as high as they can get..
