OK, for a while my [problematic] drivers window has been playing up. When I put it down it makes a grinding sort of sound. When it goes up, it's fine. Today I decided to see try and do something about so I pulled the door apart, sprayed some WD-40 on the window, tried playing with the seal a bit, etc. And to my elation it worked! Not perfect, but a marginal improvement and a success nonetheless. So I put it the door back together, and it's doing it again!!!
Loon once said my door card was warped, but that was before it started happening.

Any ideas what the root of the problem could be?

Also, when putting the door back I noted there were two sockets for the plug for the speaker to go in. I put it in the one closer to the centre of the speaker, is this correct?

On a slight upnote, I "installed" a ghetto German flag badge to the grille:

I anticipate lots of questioning from brothers and friends

...And while we're at it, one of the rear now with VR6 lights:

    Cheers

It looks just like mine, but better

Could it be a clip on the door car playing up, scratching against the glass?

My window used to do that on the way up, had to space the glass out slightly in the clamps using bits of cardboard so the window came up perfectly centred. Was a pain in the a$$ as I had to do it a few times to get it right but worked eventually.
