on power loss, i think ur onto something..
i had 16s before 17s, i dont know if its due better rubber or not, but it doesnt do wheelies on the lights like it used to with 16s
definitely better grip with the new ones tho

The bigger the diameter the longer it has to take to and the more power it needs to complete that revolution in the same time as if it was a 16" tyre. So the tyre takes longer to move and thats where the power loss comes from only slightly though.

I guess there are a few factors when choosing rims weight, ride comfortability and the right rim. 17" do look nice but only if you have the right ones for the car to suit it. I also wouldn't think that weight would be much of a factor when choosing the rim.

thanks for the feedback; As expected and my prefered response was to go with the super Light 17z.

I need at least 17z to clear ma breaks so I have no option really, as much as I would have liked 16z . . .

I've been looking at quite a few BBS rims and like all of you I absolutley love their style but they dont make any "light weight" rims (to my knowledge). These Motegi RO_JA rims are 17x8 and weigh in at only 6.3kg! Plus i'm getting a deal on'em . . .

out of those 2 i would go with something like the dinner plate ones (2)
but if you are already setup with 5 x 100 the best thing is to go for a VAG wheel that would suit you r car
there is a large selection floating about at bargin prices & they will look good in 5-10 years, not like th ones you are thinking about which will go out of style fast
not to mention the quality difference

                regards alias mk2

A deep dish look in the current vr6 rims that you have in a 17" would look the treat and very nice I think.
