i've heard from a few people that the ksports can go super low without damaging too much of your handling, depending on how they are setup. can hottuning take being heaps low well?

Any set-up on the Mk3 will somewhat suffer in the handling department the lower you go. It's all in the suspension geometry of how our Mk3s are set up, i.e. the angle in which the lower control arms sit. Those who say such and such brand will still handle good at really low height is mostly trying to say that the car is firmly planted to the ground compared to the stock mattress springs for daily driving.
The Hottuning (fixed damper settings) can be a little unbearable at times at low heights. I've cut my bumpstops in half and when the car was on the road, I still felt that I hit them on really rough bumps. They're obviously much stiffer than a standard set-up, so if you're sensitive to ride quality, your best choice would be to go for a coilover set-up that'll let you adjust damper settings. There's a fair few on this forum that run KW V2 coilovers and the general consensus about them is that they provide a comfortable ride along with decent handling capabilities. They're a little expensive but you get what you pay for!
If you're aim is to go low and don't mind a stiff ride, go for Hottuning. I'm happy with them.

first thing i'd do is get your rear arches rolled. got mine done for....what was it...i cant remember, not much though.
mines low enough for my girlfriend to have a winge about it everytime she is in the car and to stay at the same height i needed to roll the wheel arches in the rear, thats the first thing that'll hit/rub.
i thought about a skid plate but im im already on the wrong side of the line in regards to ride height laws and i've never had to worry about smashing sump yet so i wouldnt say a skid plate is a massive concern. i'd be more worried about getting defected before that!

I'd suggest one thing though. Don't go TOO low (like stupid low...) your suspension geometry WILL suffer and even I am seeing some bad effects of low suspension and i'm not the lowest mk3-er on here.Mrk Detailing, premium automotive detailing. Paint correction/protection specialist. PM me

nah not stockies man, got some early audi A3 wheels. they look like Fat Fives, but they arent so fat
they are 16X7 i think. with .....205(?)/45's i think.
only place i rub now is on the both corners as im comin out of awkward driveways.
got a bit of reverse rake which i wanna get rid of but i havent been bothered yet cos i am one lazy guy
