He's doing this: then kicks up a stone, impacted right underneath the wiper arm and you get the above result.

On top of a new screen you will need another sticker, so make sure you hit him up for an additional $5.

Are you able to claim against him - sorry to hear about this. I fear people with brushcutters when I drive past them...

He's offered to pay for the lot thankfully! (well maybe not the $5 ) He's also going to have to cough up to get the replacement retinted too.

Initial quote from O'briens for genuine replacement: ~$720 fitted
They're on the hunt for a 2nd hand one now...

Whatever you do, don't to Mickey - if it were NRMA they would almost written the VR6 off at a $800 repair!

Hope it is sorted for you soon mate.

Well I've just got off the phone with O'brien then and they found 1 person in Queensland with 2nd glass, for about $100 cheaper then new & geninue. Crazy!

Time to hit up my local peeps...

You shouldnt have to do the running around finding a new one, its his fault and he should be doing it and pay what ever it costs to get done!

Probably, but I kind of like taking charge of fixing my own car.

Well once again joe @ golfwagen comes up trumphs with the entire tailgate off a wrecked vr6. The glass will be transplanted tomorrow at o'briens, w00t

                    The glass is in! Hooray!!!

However the fitment is poor and my spoiler no longer sits flush with the tailgate. They claim they cant do anything about it because they didnt have a geniune VW glass rubber grommet mount thingy so had to use a generic one. Pretty lame!! So now the glass sits out a few mm more then it should stock. ARgh&(@&)^&

Ok now we have a problem, ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

O'briens are happy to re-do the work with a geniune rubber mount/seal, problem is they cant find one.

I've rung volkswagen parts myself and they say the mount/seal (or whatever you call it) comes with the glass itself. Thusly the only way to get the glass to sit properly is to replace it with new glass (which o'brien quoted me at $720 fitted).

So now I'm in a pickle, I have a rear window mounted all wrong on my pride n joy and there seems little I can do about it (except smash the window and start again). If anybody has any ideas or can source me the genuine mount/seal on its own PLEASE let me know!!

Dude, ring vw back and tell them to get fudged. a seal isn't glass, so it can be separated. I reckon they just don't wanna order something small, hence not making money on it. Give them some firm words and I reckon you might get somewhere.

There is no part no. on etka for a rear window seal so they could be telling the truth. Cant u use ur old seal?

I got a whole tailgate (hatch / boot door) off golfwagen, so they had to remove the window out of it and put it into mine. The seal on the old boot door was totally old and cracked so they couldnt recycle
