Hmmmm good to see this car has finally been put back together!

This being the left hand drive Mk3 was the recky car. The 2 silver cars that Simon ran were right hand drive and are now back in Germany at the Motorsport HQ. We saw them whilst on our trip in Germany 2 years ago.

This as an F2 rally car sure was a wicked car. My ol man can tell many good stories about the car as he helped when Simon first ran in the Australian rally championships.

BTW I do say iv seen some of those parts or very similar in my back shed

The recce 2 door they used in Tassie years ago was a Tdi.
As far as I knew it was either one of the cars that Simon drove or Jason Slot rolled a few times.
Steve has another unbuilt Mk3 as well...

The Mk3 that Steve has is build no. 17 from VW motorsport out of 20 built.
It won the Austrian rally championship.
It is the one that Simon Evansx drove in Australia.
Steve confirmed the recce car was a Tdi, lhd.

Think some one needs to get the facts right .......both mk3 evans/slot cars were lhd..as vw motorsport built. The recce car was also lhd silver TDI....the other VWMsport mk 3 was sold from australia to the USA..I am very proud to own no17 and keep the history in Australia..will repair the dogs on 5th gear and get this baby out in circulation once again....265hp fwd 6sp lhd is a big turn around from my rhd 2.2l 76 rwd bug......anyway just dusted down the ex bathurst golf mk1 and will ring its neck out around wakefield cheers steve
