  • Fitting a Hayman Reese Towbar on Mk3

    Hi everyone

I am just about to fit a HR towbar onto my Mk 3 Golf for a bike rack etc, it says it is for a Vento - I guess they are the same? any tricks I should be aware of?

Do I need to remove the rear coloured valance to get it on and replace it afterwards?

    Any ideas/ help is appreciated..

It is a 09/95 Build Mk3 TDi with colour coded smooth bumpers

    Thanks

You've got to cut out a section of the textured bumper on the bottom to make it fit, its a stupid design and usually deforms the bumper once its in place. My VR6 has one on it and frankly, they should have gone for a goose necked design...

Vento rear bumpers are deeper so maybe a tow bar built for a Vento would stick out further on a Golf.
      Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
      Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

Nah..it's off my car. It fits good...I would have left it on if I wasn't too cool for school!!

And if Garbon doesn't mind me saying he has one tidy mk3!
