Been a very Sick VR

Im in the middle of a transplant, original was cooked amongst other things after having a good look , i was doomed even without the cooking. Cooking has taken it out of its misery. Has anyone seen the likes, this is a pick of one of the exhaust manifolds-

so... extremely bad blowby issues? lots of oil induction... broken piston rings the cause?

eaYeah i would say the rings have stuck on this one when it got hot and the result is clag in the cylinder, from oil , carbon oh and bad blow by for sure, intake had a fair bit too. The oil smells like napalm. Just for the sake of it i will cylinder laek test it when im finished, i would expect a mad rush in the crankcase.

Interesting, is this sort of damaged caused by?

A. High km vehicle - over 500,000

B. Poor servicing - few oil changes

C. Driver abuse - thrashing of engine

D. All of above

Making a call mate answer D. Oil is very bad but is burnt. The cooling system has failed and is primarily the main cause. Then it has snowballed from there.
Some people have been asking about compression testing , im gonna do a step by step cylinder leak test on the old engine for reference

Reminds me of Mini thou's in the old days. Decoke with every service. Oil, filter and headset mate please!!

Yeah and the older Polos Hz and 2G engines, You could buy a decoke kit!!!
I broke this up today and it was like an old lump of coal That little hole you see wasnt there i caused that, it was totally blocked!!!!
