  • where on earth do u get VR6s from!?

    Hi Guys,

as mentioned in some of my earlier post..

i am trying to find a decent vr6...i know this may sound like a WTB section..but was wondering if anyone can help me start?

i tried carsales...and there are limited...some decent ones are like in victoria or queensland ...and i'm located in NSW.

Some said that they got their cars from dealers..and i was like ???

so if any kind soul can point me to a right direction...it will be really great

    cheers

    It takes time mate.
they sold 700 here 15 years ago. Half of them were crashed, the rest are being enjoyed by people.
Its unrealistic to find one the week you want it in the next suburb.
Over a 3 month perios there are lots for sale across Australia.
Also if you search the for sale section on here from the beginning there are a few still to be had.

I think its also worth considering what you are willing to pay for one, that can help narrow down your search as well as generate interest in existing owners if you tell them you want an XYZ VR6 for an X amount...

as loon says. You gotta be patient. Good ones pop up from time to time. If you rush in and grab a bodgy one you could regret it!

I dunno, there are about 10 on the market at the moment, 4 of which are in NSW. Including one in a yard in Sydney with low k's.
A week ago there were about 15 for sale, but they seem to have gone quiet for the moment. If you are after a specific colour, or a modded vehicle, then they can be a bit harder to find.

I guess, for now..ITS EVEN FINDING ONE ON SALE~!
                      ahaha

as i mentioned.. you pay for what you get...if there's a VR6 with a turbocharger..then i will be expected to pay heaps more compared to a stock as a block vr6...

thanks so much for the encouragement guys!

                        I don't think there's even one VR6 in the country that's been turbo'd? One is being built at the moment but that certainly won't be for sale any time soon. To the best of my knowledge there is only 1 or 2 that have even been supercharged in Oz. Carsales and this forum is your best bet, I think there's one for sale in Hurstville in charcoal, manual IIRC quite cheaply. May require some work but its nice to know that things have been fixed properly when you get these repairs done yourself. Check this one out;

I knew VR6's were uncommon but it seems they might even be considered rare now? I know I only see one every 2-3 months. You will never find a VR with everything you are looking for (ie manual, leather, sunroof, cruise, service history, working air con/heater etc etc). You will have to compromise in the end but it's worth checking out the market for a while before you buy. My compromise was buying a car with a good service history and good mechanical condition but without any options and with some dodgy wheels and other stuff I didn't like. I'm slowly getting it how I want it to look.

Y'all gunna hate me for this, but I found mine by pure luck when I was looking for a new car on carsales.com.au - went down, had a look, thought about it for 2 weeks, went down again, had another look and got it

I looked on carsales a little while back and found two for sale in Adelaide at the same time.

One auto, one manual. Opted for the manual as first preference but that was already sold, so went and looked at and bought the auto.
