Mk III Tdi Immobiliser/key Reader

I am about to remove my steering column to replace the ignition switch and I noticed the immobiliser ring is stuck on around the key barrell. Anyone know how you get it off so as to free up the steering column. Without damiaging it!

It should just be clipped in if i remember correctly, nothing more than giving it a bit of tug.

Yup, it unclips. gently with a screwdriver if necessary.
