  • my cat died any suggestions

after getting my exhaust done i have come to the attention that my cat converter has perished, all the ceramic has collapsed
and the guy quoted me 1700 for a oem vw one, or after market 900

$900 for a non oem one.... what a rip off!! You can get a decent hi-flow cat for around $250. Look for a Magnaflow or any other decent branded cat which you can order from most decent auto shops or most exhaust places should be able to get you one in.

I had a full turbo back 3 inch system with sport cats built for 1900.

PM Golfloon and get a secondhand one. He must have loads.

lol, from the title i thought you meant your family pet...

I was going to advise probably not to hang onto it (bury it), and look for an alive one somewhere .

                        Group buy anyone

Keep in mind, you will need the exhaust place to weld an insert for the 02 sensor in the exhaust. Not much work, just needs to be mentioned.

Pete, the one off the wreck might be ok...
The engine is out, so I'll have a look shortly and get back to you if interested!
You should also see my modified cat, they're easy to bang in and not $900!

I have loads for $100 each.

Be a shame if you took yours out to clean it and all the guts fell out.

                            Aftermarket ones can sound tinny.
