  • 2l 8v Gasflowed Cylinder head

    Hey guys,

Im gonna be importing a Gasflowed cylinder head for my Mk3 Golf GL, I would like to know the engine code so that when i give them the details of my car they can give the right cylinder head! The reason why I ask is because I don't know if there are more than one engine model for the 1996 GL?

    Thanx

Ummm -The engine code is stamped on your engine. We don't know your engine code because we haven't looked under your bonnet.

It's the two or first three characters of the engine number. Should be on your registration details.

Your motor is probably one of these. Most likely a 2E or an ADY and probably not an ABF or an ABA (unless you're very lucky)

    Golf III 2.0 ABF
    Golf III 2.0 AEP
    Golf III 2.0 ABA
    Golf III 2.0 AKR
    Golf III 2.0 AGG
    Golf III 2.0 ADY
    Golf III 2.0 2E
    Golf III 2.0 syncro AGG

I thought later model GL's had AGG's, and earlier models 2E's Pete?

Didn't you pull one of them outta the GL wreck you got [which was a 96-97 wasn't it?]

Yeah, but there's no point in guessing when it's stamped on your motor!

Better to actually check, it might have been changed or be an oddity.

Yeah I've got an early model '96 with an ADY motor. Better to check.
          Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
          Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

Yeah, my mk3 had a 2E and it was a '94. Good luck with the purchase and build of your car. Throw up some pics and specs for us mate if you can.

Sure thing will do! I got some specs already, For the 2L 8V motor its a gas flowed head with 2.5mm bigger valves and a 272 cam for $690, the place that im buying it from also allows the guys with more mod knowledge to give them the specs you want in your head and they can do it for you. They also produce their own valves on site! Im Planing on buying it at the end of the month or mid next month (when i have all the cash) then im importing it! The company sells it to you with head, cam and valves, so all you need to do is just bolt it on!
