not 100% sure if this is the right place to post this.

in the next few months a want to supercharger my VR.

would it be worth it to source a supercharger and bracket from whereever, be it overseas or here somewhere(maybe second hand), and get a shop to help me do up the rest of the kit and have to software made up my someone like GIAC or Custom code or something.
    OR
buy a kit straight from the US and pay heaps on taxes and exchange rates etc.

im sort of leaning towards the first option. mainly for money reasons.

anyone else have any ideas or suggestions regarding this, be it which optin or maybe even someone at a specific tuning/fabrication shop to talk to?

    thanks heaps,

I'd love to do mine, and if I could I'd get parts and put it together myself. That said, I have no idea on prices for anything FI so I'd be batting blind. My preference would be first option, but if the second is proven better I wouldn't dwell on it

i know what you mean wabit, ive put off ordering a number of this because of the exchange rate at the moment!

see i was more inclined to just order a kit from the states. but ive just beeninging that all i'd really need from the kit is the charger, bracket and some software. other than that i'd just need some piping and whatnot right? roughly ofcourse. and i thought i might be able to get someone here to make up that stuff at a local performance shop. wouldnt i be right in thinking that? i dont know.
how much does it cost to charge other cars? like take any car to a shop and how much is it? my brother said he's been quoted around 4K for his bmw, using a charger off a toyota something. 4K is a heck of a lot cheaper than 4K purchase price USD, plus importing plus exchange rate.

does anyone know of any decent shops that would do this kind of work?
i might go and see how much that sort of thing would cost first before i set out doing it.

theres a dude on the forums (VRsick from the above post) who got Volkspower to fit his VR kit. he bought the SC second hand in Oz which was cheap but fitting cost the earth (2 earths even) cuz he did it proplee and got alot of other stuff done to ensure he got the most out of the kit.

personally id spend the dosh on making sure the rest of your car is to your liking (coils, minor aesthetics, sound, etc) cuz whatever you spend on those items in total, i would quadruple it (even times it by 5 of 6) to budget for the SC project.

and even after it, youre easily looking at the cost of a second car!

if and when you sell it, youll be lucky to get any good coin for it.

and no offence to you or anyone that has or will be doing the kit, but do the $ per KW exercise to see if its really worth it. In my opinion and experience, power upgrades for NA cars are a waste of money.

thats why make it shine round the bends and use the car for what theyre really known for.

          * on a totally different tangent, if i won tatts, id buy a 2 door mk3, drop in a turboed VR6 engine (possibly R32), big brakes, big wheels, race interior, and be grinning from ear to ear. but i havent won....yet
          I'm selling my VR6
