Do it, that CL looks so right with that stance. It's just a neat clean package.

hmm so 15's instead of 17's? I'm not really sure as I have only seen pics of these cars, but I don't mind the look of a mk3 on 17s.

To be different though, those ET15s do look pretty nice, and aren't too expensive. $800 for wheels, then tires? I wouldn't know where to start..

Any pics of a mk3 with these et15s on?

Also, I don't want the tires to rub either, would 15x8 do this?

Is this what they'll look like in terms of sticking out? http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...M/8380_071.jpg

The offsets on those are a lot steeper than ET15. I'm running 15x8 ET15 out the back:

195/50 on + guard rolling and I don't rub at a moderately low height.

          Sportmaxx 513 15x8 ET0 and 15x7 ET15

X2, those are a fantastic looking wheels by a decent manufacturer, I had sportmaxx's on my old GL and they were a good wheel that balanced well. You can also get a decent set of Bridgestones for around $110 a tire, so for around $1200 you can get a fantastic looking set of wheels with the perfect offsets.

Also, what tyre size goes on 15x8s? 225/45?

You'd probably have to go narrower than 225 (depending on offset) so you get some "stretch", this allows you to run super wide rims and silly offsets

I've spoken to my dad and mates, and they aren't really a fan of the small wide wheels, and prefer 17s. I know that style looks mad on mk3's, but maybe it's better to just take the safe option if I'm going to have the car for a few years.

These are looking like the best option http://www.tempetyres.com.au/product...t=&part_no=202

Any better 17s for the price that I should consider?

edit: I love these OZ wheels, http://users.tpg.com.au/dextere/golf/fl.jpg, anyone know where I can get them? And is it possible to put the vr6 wheel flare things on a GL? Do they just clip in?

i agree, i like those OZ but to look good on 17's you have to be at an undriveable ride height. seriously idk how you drive those things, i'm pretty sure theyre not on bags.

Mine is on 17"s at a reasonably low height (not super low) and is quite driveable, just gotta get the right offsets etc.

That looks exactly the height I want to be at. Does it rub at all? Would you say go 16s just in case?

There's more choice for 17s as well on tempe..

17"s were fine with no rub until I used spacers on the rear With no spacers they should be fine at that height, I'm running 205/40/17"s.
