From the looks of them they're only 0.25W which yeah are most likely way too small.

Some additional calculations (P=Power, V=Voltage, I=Current):

I through a specific resistor in a parralel system = (V/Total R)/(R of resistor in question)
I = (12/7.42)10
I = 0.162A

P= V*I
P = 12*0.162
P = 1.94W

Therefore you need a 2W resistor. However if you can get a 5W one to be safe. Hopefully this will sort it.

Wouldn't say that. I know a little which can probably be just as dangerous as it is useful.
