Shaved bumper indicator DIY
Ok guys seeing as I just bought Steve's bumper and don't have mk4 style lights, I needed to find another place for my indicators. I was pleased with what I did so I thought I'd share if anyone else is looking to do something similar
What you'll need:
Spare side-repeaters/bulbs (W5W) off your mk3 (mine are the square ones, OBD I)
Spare side repeater plugs for the front indicator plugs (You'll see what I mean in the pics)
Some sort of small cutting tool - a dremel would be fine, although I used a small precision saw.
Some sort of plastics glue (I used Selley's - pictures below)
About 20 minutes of your time
The guts to cut into your lower mesh airducts!
EDIT: You'll also need 10ohm resistors to wire into the front indicator wires so your bulbs flash normally!
Ok so. It turns out the side repeater plugs:
...fit into the front indicator plugs!
With this mod I used my OEM orange side repeaters and cut them into the lower airducts, sticking them in place. Like so(sorry, dark pic):
To do this, I used a small precision saw and cut some of the black mesh out of the mesh duct. This is how much I cut:
When cutting this, you'll see in the next picture that I didn't cut all of the HORIZONTAL mesh out (the two black lines of mesh on each side) because it would have left an open gap behind the indicator. I cut about halfway:
You'll notice that they fit perfectly into the gap of the mesh that was cut out (I love mk3's
) and seeing as I angled them forward so they face straight ahead, I glued them on an angle to the mesh duct. This is the glue I used (well...the packaging of 
); it comes with a primer texta so you get the best grip on both plastics. Make sure you apply the primer to both sides, but the glue only to one:
It's a bit hard to explain, so hopefully the pictures will clear things up...what I did was glue the bottom tab of the side repeater (which sits at the bottom, don't get that mixed up!) to glue on the bottom mesh part, and I glued the top of the side repeater (this time the whole top, not just a tab or anything) to the top mesh part:
Let that sit for a few hours, and vwah-la (i don't care how it's spelt!)
I'll update this thread tomorrow with pics of the finished product. Hopefully I can smoke the orange side repeaters a bit so they don't stand out so much.
EDIT: Guys after I finished doing this my bulbs wouldn't stop flashing fast...this was due to the circuit being different with a smaller power draw form the bulbs so I installed resistors to bring the bulb flash back to normal. What you do is splice the front indicator wires and solder the resistor from one wire to the other (it's a parallel circuit) and this will stop your car thinking a bulb is blown and hence flash fast.

smoked should work better though . . .
