  • Rear door speakers

I currently don't have rear speakers from the factory... and am looking to install these...

    Has anybody done this?

Other than running the speaker wires do you need to have brackets installed? what will hold the speaker?

    Tips/suggestions/photos would be appreciated.

    Cheers

I installed my 6.5" kicker splits into the rears with the bracket that came with them. It's pretty easy, you just screw the bracket into the door, then the speaker into the bracket hehe. You can fit anything from 5.25" up to 6.5" in the rears, providing the bracket is big enough for smaller speakers.

Oh, and you probably won't be able to get the stock grill back on if you go with aftermarket speakers. Unless you go with MB Quart splits which are a perfect, and i mean PERFECT fit for our doors.

U dont need a bracket, the speakers will screw into the plastic pod. Im unsure whether there are holes there from factory but its not hard to drill 4 holes into the plastic

Yeah once you get a speaker and put it in the place you want it to be, you'll figure out whatever needs to be done VERY easily

If you have good speakers in the front, you shouldn't really need them in the door.
Your not really going to hear them anyway.
Are you going to run them off the headunit.

Hertz 6" split mid ranges screwed straight into mine also. Maybe a bit more than you're willing to spend though, about $400-ish a set but damn they good!

I fitted a set of JBL 6.5" splits in the back doors no worries. Hardest part was getting the wiring through the door grommet so it was nice and neat! If you do go down the split speaker route, you can fit the tweeter next to the door handle where it looks as though there should be a tweeter from factory (you may need to file down the little clips to get it in).
