  • Fuel Gauge

When I fill up my Golf to the max it only reads 3/4 full on the fuel gauge.

Any tips suggestions on how to fix this?

    Is there a simple tweak?

Do I need to open the fuel tank and adjust one of the floats?

    Cheers

Yup, under the back seat is a plate, under that unscrew the big top and then remove pump anticlockwise. If you put it in backwards, the float ends up in the shallow part of the tank and doesnt work right.

You should buy my spare workshop manual mate

            Thanks, all.

Does anybody have a pic of which way is the right way for the float to be?

Maybe a photo from a service book?

            Cheers

Sometimes I find the fuel nozzle clicks full when mines only at 3/4 too. Usually I take it out, give it a shake, then back in she goes for the final bit. That way I end up with a full delicious tank of 98 fun-juice
