  • [VR6] anyone had problem getting off the back wheels?

so i bought those cheap OZ wheels from Sydney, and without tyres they seem to fit no probs.

but when trying to remove the rear wheels, even after all of the bolts were taken off, the wheel required a huge amount of force and effort to remove (ie, almost 30mins to take off one!) Same thing for the OZ wheel on the dummy fit.

It looked as though the brake disc/hub raised section was a poofteenth bigger than the center bore in the wheel. Once all of the bolts were on and tightened the wheel was super snug. Getting the wheel off though, took forever!!!

    anyone had this issue?

I've had the same issue with previous wheels, but I don't think it's a big deal. Have you tried fitting the problematic wheels on the fronts?

Oh, and nice buy with those wheels!
    Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
    Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

thanks! shud have them on some time during the week.

its not the wheels that are the issue but the brake discs /hub . the stock wheels wouldnt come off without MAJOR coaxing and the aftermarket wheels were the same when we took them off after the trial fit.

so im assuming its the assembly and not the wheels.

spinning wire brush on a drill, clean up the rear hubs whilst the wheels are off and all should be well.

My front-right wheel has this also. I need to hammer the wheel off to get it off the hub...

Might try attacking it with steel brush, cheers loon

Is that WD40 on the bore when the wheel is off?
