  • Exhaust suggestions please........

    Hey Guys,
Pretty keen on getting a new zorst for the VR6. Don't want anything loud, just a nice note. What diameter pipe should I get, 2.5"? I think stock is 2"? Will probably lose the suitcase and replace with something more efiicient. Is there anything I should specifically ask for, e.g. glass paks, hot dogs etc? Oh and it will definitely be getting DTM tips

    Cheers
    Simon

Dude.....having just done tha magnaflow on my car I have to give it a plug. It sounds horny...

The stock piping is actually 2.25", and I've gone for a cat-back setup: 2", glasspack resonator (it's just a hotdog) and the magnaflow backbox. It's really opened out the sound, it drones a little around 2,000rpm but I love it so far

        Bit of fuel for thought.

Thanks Mickey, I wanna try and avoid that drone if possible I do a fair bit of freeway driving. Was thinking about replacing the stock suitcase with a hot dog or similar and getting a new back box. From doing some reading on the 'tex it seems 2.25" is ideal for N/A so I might leave the stock piping in everywhere else, provided i find no holes in it!

Sounds like a good plan dude. You'll get a great note out of either Magnaflow or Remus backboxes, and the hotdog will just dampen the sound a bit; refine it, if you will

When I bought my magnaflow I did research on eBay and I found two places you could pick 'em up and have 'em shipped to your door for 250ish... not sure now though because of our crappy dollar

Do you have a model number for yours Mickey? I did notice a few places on evilbay that sell em, but as you say the $ is about as valuable as Paris Hilton's virginity.

I think that 2.25" is the max you would want to go for a N/A setup. Any bigger and I reckon the loss in backpressure with make a big torque hole down low (even more than stock). Bigger sizes are really only useful for FI applications (2.5" and 3")

EDIT: And btw..no problemo. Happy to help make a VR sound more like it should
