  • Mk III Golf - Rear Wiper Issue.

The end cap of the rear wiper on my Mk III Golf was brokeken when we bought it 4 months ago. No problem, I thought, I'll buy a new, which I did. Problemis the new one doesn't fit properly.

Pics 1 & 2 show the broken end cap in place. Note the washer jet in centralized.

Pics 3-5 are the new cap in place. The washer jet is over against the RHS of the cap opening. Also does not seem to fit squarely over the large bottom nut.

The old & new caps.....look identical.

Almost the same part number, letter A on the end of the new one which is made in Germany. Old one was made by Bosche in Belgium.

Pointed this out to the VW spares, and they had another ordered for the stock order. I tried that one, and it was the same.

        Anyone have any good ideas?

I think the new one should go on further over the nut at the bottom a bit more.

Look at the clips on the inside of your old one, they are worn at the edges. If you make the new clips more tired and worn at the bottom it will sit a couple of mm further down and the sprayer should then work.
