Hi , just bought my self a golf GTI 2.0 8v anniversary thats not running right. Cars stalls when braking and comming down into 2nd gear , especial in damp or wet weather. Im thinking it might be the idle stabilisation valve ? . Fitted new airfilter and fuel filter looks fine.

I would be grateful for any advice/help .

Ignition coil I think! Common fault after years of running. Where abouts are you located? You can purchase a new one from VW parts dealer or an imported one in for cheaper. Easy to change around (you'll need to remove your raintray cover to access the nuts).
    Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
    Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

I'm living in Newcastle, U.K, just down from Scotland. I also have a whirling sound coming from the rear nearside wheel. I have changed the disc's bearings and pads on both sides but the noise is still there. Do you have any ideas ?

As you might have guessed I am not that mechanically minded

      Many thanks
