The engine in my car was replaced due the previous owner smacking the sump, thus bending the oil pickup, severe engine damage etc

I actually have the receipt; from Brooky Parts it cost $1650 for an engine with 65000km on it.

If it was me i am a vr6 owner myself id reco the head doesn't cost all that much its like $6 a valve only have 12 labor is the killer in any job go new everything head gasket, valves, valve steam seals and id look at a bit of port work and a 3 way angle grind on the valves, vr6 heads are known for poor flow then you have piece of mind its all new and bit extra performance and while the head is off they can check bores for marks and piston slap at least you will know your engine

yeah you can prob have the head rebuild for under 1000, another motor with over 150k's will still need the chains done anyway.
                    cheers brenton
