  • A little bit of detailing.

To get the Golf ready for the Bug-In VW Show. I wanted to have the red colour show under the mud guards.

It took 5 cans of degreaser + 2 litres of Kero.

The rear guard was not as bad as the front, but took alot of elbow grease, and still needs some more.

The wheels looked like they had never been cleaned, other than what was exposed. I wish I'd taken pics of the back, but you may get the impression of what it was like. The centre of the rim is like the backs were.

I`m too lazy too, but I appreciate how much effort went into it.

Is that tape around the dipstick tube extension? Easily sourced, only a few dollars. I am not picking, don't get me wrong. Looks like its coming up well. See you easter, I'd better start soon on my cars!

Yes that was tape. I bought another guide for a couple of dollars, then noticed the dipstick didn't have an oring, so I ordered that too. The guide came & the dipstick was back ordered. I decided to wait until I had all the items before fitting any of them.
When the dip stick came it still didn't have an oring, so I've got a spare.

Keith Lawer is coming over for Easter. He won car of the show at Murray Bridge. He KNOWS how to detail cars, so you'd better start now!

It's going to be on then! Kerryn Abbott and myself with our Mk5 GTIs and Peter Curran with his GL Golf.
By far the cleanest car I get in at work would be a black Mk 4 Generation. Its as shiny underneath as on top! The owner removes the wheels every fortnight to clean under the guards. Its only his wifes car too!!
I'll post some photos of it soon.

And I thought I was doing a good job by doing it each time I rotate the wheels?
