Have you tried Bunnings? They have some great products which can provide great air intake and Heat shielding solutions for the everyday tightarse Volkswagen enthusiast and an entire shielding system can be made for as little as $25!Originally posted by Mrk_Mickey View PostGetting sick of thinking about my pod soaking up hot air. Daaamn that's neat! DIY by far would be the most satisfying and cheapest to do.
Here's a recent one from the Mk4 forums! http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...d.php?p=197611Last edited by rayray086; 04-08-2008, 10:38 AM.

Thx Ray and Lachie, my dad pretty much made it tbh, I just did the research and found the materials. Its basically a 3 piece heat sheild with a bracket at the back holding the intake pipe in place (which still some vertical movement which I have to fix), another larger right side panel which, and a lid which slopes down to the left. It was mainly trial and error, with constant adjustments. I started it in March and finished it in July since I was so busy but I'm pleased with the result. I'd make a DIY but considering how much time it took and how exact it now is, I'd have to draw up the intake in autocad to be fair on everyone else.Originally posted by bboyskidz View Postyeh Branko thats freakin sweet! when did you do that?! I want!!
Have a look at the Neuspeed P-flo mickey, you can actually just buy the head shield and mounts without the filter online, postage should be around $50.80,000km 1997 MK3 VR6 manual for sale - www.vwwatercooled.org.au/forums/f23/80-000km-1997-manual-vr6-nsw-sydney-67658.html

nice work man!!! that is uber pro!!! it would be rather chilly down there!Originally posted by Peter Jones View PostBunnings CAI FTW!
Mick you are right. it would work better if the pipe itself were insulated but i'm pretty sure it would be more efficient than where the current box is. hot air rises and that pipe is lowww. it also doesn't look too close to anything that hot either... is that in a Vr6?Originally posted by Mrk_Mickey View PostBut, but....that pipe induces hot air!!!

I need to find / fab / something a metal bracket for my CDA, it's kind of rubbing on metal atm, not good.
The great thing about the beer dynamic intake is that that it should be fairly well insulated, making it a great headsheild!1996 Golf VR6 Colour Concept Green
