Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    hi dubbers, cheers for the info on my airflow sensor, scored one from europarts and its on its way. will an audi block 2l 1991 go into my mk2 gti 8v ? i may have read a thread here in the past but could anyone give me an insight, as ive got my hands on a bargain car !! thanks

    what prefix audi motor?
    and a 2.0 head on a 1.8 block will generaly lower compression...

      The 2L has bigger intake ports so you would need to use a the audi manifold, but it comes out the wrong side, so you`d need a mk3 one which has a different throttle body. So not a straight bolt on. Better to use the 2L bottom end and your 1.8 head. Bolts straight in and is rapid.

        Have to say this because every time I asked about a 2L bottom end i got this response.

        "The 2L bottom end doesnt like to be revved"

          That won't be so much of a problem if you are running a std head.

          If you have one that is ported and polished and maybe with a lumpy cam, then the lack of reviness will show up more.

              Can't say I've had that problem. I'm running a 3A 2L, and it's an animal... I'm not sure about a newer 2L running digi though, this 3A runs harder than my 2E ever did...

                tricked out

                the audi is a 91 model , joe says there is alot of variations wth a 2 l block , yesterday i set the air flow meter a few clicks and it made a good improvement . i will go for the engine swap with the 2l and i got a set of leather vr6 seats to and tear drop alloys , just need to lower it down
