Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    No not what your thinking.

Did the old girl (or is it young girl??) a favor and gave her some fresh oil, filters and a tinkering yesterday!!!

Took her for a lil spin (1/2 hr drive around the Byron Hinterland)

mmm, while i had the air box apart i decided to play around a bit.

So i took out the little trumpet shaped piping out of the box and BINGO!

    we got some serious grrrrr!

I did a lil research and cant see any danger given the QLD climate!

first impressions- no different 1000-3000 revs
second impression- 3500-5000 lots more noise and definately more response.

It may also be the fresh oil and filters.

mmm got me thinking about maybe taking out the whole box, adding some extra piping down to a cooler spot on the grill and adding a pod filter.

    Anyone else tried this?
    feedback?

oh yeah, also blew a water pipe on the drive back up this morning, but problem solved quickly.
Thanks to my observant eye and luck!!

Many thanks to the driver of a VK Holden Commodore driving behind me, who flashed their lights to let me know my coolant had left the radiator in a hurry!!!!!

One of my friends drove his BMW 5 series, with a busted water hose which was simply taped up, half way from Sydney to Melb then back again from Melb to Sydney. They had to top up the water a few times but I guess it worked, there was no damaged done, the car is still running 2 years later...
