yea, grab ya wife! get her in there pumping up the pressure 4 or 5 times , then open the valve and get her to hold it to the floor till you do the bleeder up again..repeat 6 or 7 times.....

if your M/C is cactus you will find if you pump the pedal up and hold pressure on it...the pressure will slowly dissapear and the fluid will rise in the resiviour...

another thing could be a sticking piston in the new calipers????
put your hand brake on and see if you get a good pedal then.......
if the pedal seems fine with the hand brake on...then its pro'lly a sticking caliper...

I recon its just got some air in the lines tho mate

Do you have rubber or braided brake lines?

If rubber, clamp off each calliper in turn and see if the pedal improves. When you clamp of the right calliper, you'll know.

Another problem I have seen with back callipers is when the wrong one has been fitted and the bleed nipple is at the bottom not the top. You can never get the air out, except by swinging the calliper to get the flexy pipe below the nipple.

Could be that a seal has flipped over in the Master cylinder causing your problem.

He just put Mk3 ones on there Tommy!

I reckon they probably need more bleeding.

Gave it another purge today with no improvement, although I didnt have enough brake fluid to do more than 3 pumps of the pedal. I use a 1 man bleed kit like this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BRAKE-BLEEDER-ONE-MAN-AMPRO-QUALITY-NEW_W0QQitemZ360038462769QQihZ023QQcategoryZ35625Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I dont see any air bubbles coming out, looks like a constant stream.
The bleeder valves are up right at the top of the caliper. Hand brake works ok. I read on some other forums about keeping the brake bias valve open. Where is that ? Anyway the fluid comes straight out as soon as the bleed valves open. Not loosing any brake fluid nor see any leaks.

More bleeding ? How many more brake fluid bottles ?

Im a bit sceptical on one man bleed kits .....
The old way seems to give best results.....

re use the fluid that u are bleeding , so you dont waste any.
But like I said...If the master cyl is buggered or a seal is stuffed , when you get the pressure to the pedal and hold constant pressure u will feel the pedal slowly move to the floor and the fluid will by pass back into the resivour.

A stuffed master cyl usually wont hold any pressure to the braking system for too long...when you pump them up will it hold pressure under your foot without slowly sneaking to the floor????

And do you get a solid pedal with motor running and hand brake ON.....
If the pedal pressure is good with the hand brake ON...it usually means a sticking piston in caliper..as I said before...

but seriously, throw the one man bleed thing away!!!! lol....
some work great...but allot of them are total S%#T....
an at least you know you cant go wrong with some one pumping the pedal and doing it the old fashon way. lol

Clamp the rubber line to each caliper in turn on each wheel.
If it improves when you clamp one, you have a problem with that caliper.
If its the same, I`d be looking at the master.

Bring this old thread back to Top, and look for help

I fitted Mk3 caliper in my Mk2 ok, in upside down though (i.e fit left to right and right to left)
Now it doesn't bleed, I used power bleeder as well as the 2 men method, nothing come out from the bleeder valve. Could it be the bleeder valve blocked or problem with caliper ?
I also tried to remove the caliper again and turn it over to bleed, still no oil out from the bleeder valve.

I had this. I took my caliper off, and squeezed the piston in by hand a few times until no air bubbles came out. It worked the best for me. Took me ages to do it but surprise surprise, I have brakes now!
