Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Revs?

Just curious as I think my car is using to much petrol.

3000rpm @ 100kmh in 5th, is that normal or to high?

    Sounds about right.

What sort of fuel you using?

I noticed a considerable jump in fuel usage when i filled up on standard unleaded.
and the car ran like crap until 2-3 tanks later.

        Awsome, thanks guys.

I use BP Ultimate. I can't tell at the moment how many K's I get out of a tank because my speedo cable isnt conected thus my odometer doesnt work .

The tank usaly lasts me about a week, week and a half.

Any reves above 3500 seems to just drink the petrol like a camel.

              I hope not!!

You should be getting around the 500-600 Km's mark depending on your driving style and the traffic.

I dont think im getting anywhere near that. Rough calculation is about 400-450km per tank. Maby its driving style.

Car was full tonight and drove a round trip which equled to about 60km and used over an 1/8th of a tank.

I just thought it should last longer, should be a bit more economical.

I drive mostly on open road & anything above 3000rpm the economy starts dropping away
@60kph it will go as low as 5.7
                  @ 3000rpm or 100kph I get about 6.7-8
                  @120kph which is about 37-800rpm I get 7.8ish
If I push it with the revs up it will easily go up 10 or 12 litres per 100 ks

                  thats a big variation

An aussie car would have an 02 sensor has this fallen off or failed? Good excuse to get it on the rolling road and check the power I mean mixture

I drive about 5km to work my average usage is 26mpg (too lazy to convert)

I think your enjoying that nice torquey rev range spyda!!

Best I've ever got out of a tank is pretty much right on 600 kms.

With all the stop start driving I'm doing through traffic lately, getting more like 400-450.

If only petrol was cheaper it wouldnt be such a headache!

Haha, yeah i think so. I dont usaly take it past 4000 before shifting though. Some times in first ill let it touch redline and if there is a race ill give it a bit but then u can just watch the petrol needle fall.

Does anyone have any info on the power/torque curve? And whats digilag?

Nothing wrong with K-Jet if you put your MK 2 Motor in a Mk1

                              Is K-Jet really that bad?

New there was a reason they changed to digifant.

I heard in the US they actually went backwards and refitted k-jet on some models!!
                              Must have been cheaper system.
