Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Want to spice up the 1.8 16V corrado eventually and looking @ 2E block and worked head, have complete kr head and will do a mild port clean-up and exhaust and inlet manifold match port.
Not bothering with guide out porting
My question is how much can you deck a kr head and what is the minimum machined thickness?

Have you seen anyone put that head on a 2E before. I am not convinced that you can. Having had a few 16V motors in the past, I reckon you need and ABF or 9A bottom end for that little project.

Can't advise on how much to skim but I wouldn't be doing any more than a swift grind to ensure it's flat.

The biggest hurdle you have to making power is the ECU, as you can't make any ignition or fuelling changes very easily.

I ran a VSAM on mine which is an intercepter style piggy back computer.

I agree Gav, You can not put a 16v head on a 8v block.

I agree with Gav. I replaced my KR with a 9A in my 1988 Golf GTI 16V. I also ran a VSAM on it. It was chalk and cheese from the albeit tired KR. Heaps more torque. The KJet should be able to cope with the fuelling. Mine did.

Oh ok ???,have a PDF outlining whats required and it mentions the use of ABF or 9A pistons to get compression back and avoid piston to valve clearance problems ?,maybe my glasses were dirty
Have 2e block low kms that dropped the belt tentioner and had a short time @ idle before shutdown, basically a good block thats why i'am asking.
          Cheers.

EDIT sorry was rod and piston change ,the block was aba which is same as 2e as far as I know.
